Nina-Jo Moore is Professor and Assistant Chairperson of the Communication Department at Appalachian State University. She received her B. A. from the University of South Florida, her M.A. from the University of Georgia, and her Ph.D. from the University of Maryland.
For many years, she has taught nonverbal communication in addition to other interpersonal, organizational, and public communication courses. She has published a textbook in Nonverbal Communication and articles in the areas of interpersonal communication, intercultural communication, and public address (public speaking). She has led numerous workshops on how nonverbal communication plays a role in all different types of settings, especially in the workplace.
Active in professional organizations for more than forty-five years, Dr. Moore has served as president of the Southern States Communication Association (SSCA) and the Carolinas Communication Association (CCA), in addition to many other leadership roles within these organizations. With a strong interest in intercultural communication, she also spent a year abroad teaching in Warsaw, Poland and leads summer-study programs to Poland and the Czech Republic for Appalachian State University.
